WWE Survivor Series 2024 was a one match show and that match delivered. So, two thumbs up. The Bloodline vs. Bloodline Civil War Games match was stocked with drama, team turmoil, memorable spots, and loads of action, which anchored an otherwise paint-by-numbers event.
Here are my Brass Ring Ratings for the show and here’s how they work … I call it like I see it and grade accordingly. Period.
Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Bayley, Naomi, & Bianca Belair vs. Liv Morgan, Nia Jax, Candice LeRae, Raquel Rodriguez, & Tiffany Stratton - Women’s War Games Match
This wasn’t a bad match. It was, however, overly produced and obnoxiously choreographed. The idea of a wrestling match is to choreograph a fight without it looking choreographed. Many times throughout this match, it felt like the participants ditched that over 100 year old reality. The tandem, off the top of the cage spot was the highlight of that obnoxiousness. Yes, it looked cool, but Tiffany Stratton was up there for a LONG time waiting for Iyo Sky to get herself ready. Too long and the other opponents were just standing in the ring waiting for her to jump on them. The baseball bat shots to Ripley from Liv Morgan weren’t very good either. That said, the crowd was into this and were tremendously invested in the finish, which saw Ripley put Liv Morgan through a table before pinning her. To that end, it worked.

LA Knight vs. Shinsuke Nakamura - WWE United States Championship
A wonderful and fresh presentation for Nakamura during this match. A totally new look, new attitude, and new entrance music helped frame Nakamura differently than at any other point during his WWE run. The match was what it was, but it got Nakamura a title win. That was the landing place — match be damned. Is Triple H in the Shinsuke Nakamura business? Kinda, yeah. Who would have said that in 2024?

Bron Breakker vs. Sheamus vs. Ludwig Kaiser - WWE Intercontinental Championship
Exactly what you’d want out of these three guys. This was all crazy, hard-hitting action, and Bron Breakker stood tall at the end. They each had moments of dishing out the hard-hitting stuff and they all took it too. Kaiser leveled up during this match and Sheamus was Sheamus — a huge compliment.

Gunther vs. Damian Priest - WWE World Heavyweight Championship
The worst match of the night, but definitely not a bad one. The story was Gunther getting his groove back, but Priest holding his own and they effectively painted that picture. That said, a lot of the Gunther control on offense was slow and plodding. Therefore, it seemed the audience was tired for Priest’s eventual fire up. When they did have the audience buzzing and boiling to a crescendo, they kept the match going only for Finn Balor to interrupt. Yes, they’ve been laying the foundation for that and it was logical, but it hurt the overall stature of the match itself.

The OG Bloodline (Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Sami Zayn, & CM Punk) vs. The New Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, & Bronson Reed) - War Games Match
Very well done. The turmoil within the OG Bloodline team was well orchestrated — especially between CM Punk and Roman Reigns. The action was very good too. Both top of the cage spots worked and the gang beat downs inside the ring reinforced the danger and brutality of the War Games concept. Now, the booking was a bit curious. Where does Solo go after that finish? He was obliterated by everyone as he stood defiant. He’s still the tribal chief after that? How? Michael Cole did the match a disservice in the way he sold the win for Roman. Instead of emphasizing how big the win was for Reigns, he hedged and said that “Solo is still the tribal chief!” It looked like anything but that. Did the match really mean nothing? It seemed like that is what WWE wanted you to think as the show went off the air — that even though Reigns won, everything really is still the same because the story must go on.
