The Problem with Pat McAfee

There is a very good reason I did not use the headline The Problem with Pat Mcafee in WWE, because my issues with McAfee extend beyond three hours on Monday and PLE’s going forward. They go from surface level annoyances to some important issues with our society in 2024.

I will say at the top that I do not think Pat McAfee is a bad guy. I actually think that he is a good example of chasing your dreams in America, given a boost of platform and betting on yourself. But, his story of fame matches a lot of modern internet celebrities. They are people that are equipped to discuss their interests at high levels. Pat - Football and sports culture; Rogan - Comedy and MMA; Theo Von - Comedy. However, when we as a society rely on those people to discuss subjects that they are not able to discuss or research the long form discussions they all say they look for, a problem starts to brew.

When you make a habit of having “experts,” on shows like this you have a few things happen. You as the host defer to the expert and allow them to say any and everything unchecked. While some of their information may be good, when you talk for hours and are not checked on anything it leads to negative outcomes.
